Intellectual Property
- The App’s components (text, logos, interfaces) are protected. Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited.
Personal Data
- See the Privacy Policy (docs/legal/privacy-policy.md). Mneia does not operate its own cloud; processing relies on iOS on‑device capabilities and, where applicable, Apple frameworks.

Note: if the App is published by an entity established outside France, adapt these details (entity form, local registry, address). Complete the “to be completed” fields before publication.
Terms of Use — Mneia
Last updated: 2025‑09‑23
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Mneia app (the “App”). By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms.
1. Purpose and Services
Mneia lets you record audio, view levels, transcribe speech (with an on‑device first approach), and associate information (notes, “participants”, place). Some features require iOS permissions (microphone, speech recognition, location).
2. Lawful Use and Responsibilities
- You must comply with applicable laws (consent of recorded persons, privacy of communications, workplace rules, etc.).
- You are solely responsible for the content you record and how you share it.
- You are responsible for keeping your own backups/exports if needed. The App does not provide cloud backup.
3. Accuracy and Technical Limits
- Automatic transcription may contain errors. You remain responsible for review.
- Quality varies with device, acoustic environment and language.
- Some features may be unavailable or degraded (e.g. models not installed, permissions denied).
4. Data, Privacy, Permissions
- See the Privacy Policy for details.
- Recordings and transcripts stay on device, except when an Apple framework is used as described (speech recognition, translation, model downloads). You can enforce strictly on‑device recognition by enabling “On‑device only” when available.
5. Intellectual Property
The App and its components (text, logos, interfaces) are protected. You receive a personal, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable right to use the App. You retain rights in your own content (audio, transcripts, notes).
6. Prohibited Uses
You must not: (i) use the App unlawfully, (ii) interfere with the App, (iii) reverse‑engineer in violation of applicable licenses, (iv) extract or reuse substantial portions of code or data.
7. Changes and Availability
We may modify the App or these Terms for technical, legal or security reasons. We may suspend the App for maintenance, force majeure or regulatory reasons.
8. Warranties and Liability
The App is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, Mneia disclaims all express or implied warranties. Mneia is not liable for data loss, loss of profit, indirect damages, or consequences of misuse (e.g. recording without consent).
9. Governing Law and Disputes
Unless mandatory rules provide otherwise, these Terms are governed by French law. Courts are determined by applicable rules of civil procedure.

Privacy Policy — Mneia
Last updated: 2025‑09‑23
This policy explains how the Mneia app (the “App”) handles your data. Mneia is designed “offline‑first”: recordings, transcripts and related metadata are stored locally on your device. There is no account creation, no ad profiling, and no automatic transfer to third‑party servers, except as explicitly described below (Apple frameworks).
Data Controller
Data We Process
Depending on your use, the App may process:
- Audio: recording files (CAF/M4A) and their content.
- Transcripts: text generated from speech (and optional time/word segments when available).
- Metadata: title, date/time, duration, file size, detected language.
- Location (optional): your position at the time of recording if you grant permission.
- User‑entered information: notes, “participants” (free‑form labels), “place”.
- Local diagnostics: runtime logs (Documents/logs) and crash reports stored locally.
- Preferences: UI language, audio/transcription settings.
Purposes
- Provide recording and transcription features.
- Display/organise your recordings and associated info (place, participants, notes).
- Improve stability: logs and crash reports remain local unless you choose to share them.
Legal Bases (EU/EEA)
- Contractual necessity: recording and transcription performed at your request.
- Consent: access to microphone, speech recognition and location (iOS prompts you).
- Legitimate interests: local diagnostics (logs/crashes) to ensure reliability and support.
On‑device Processing and Apple Frameworks
- Speech recognition (iOS 18+/26): the App prioritises Apple’s on‑device speech capabilities. iOS may download Apple speech/language models.
- Rare network fallback: if on‑device transcription fails or is clearly incomplete, the App may retry using Apple’s speech services (SFSpeech). In that case, short audio excerpts may be sent to Apple’s servers, subject to Apple’s privacy terms. You can require strictly on‑device recognition by enabling “On‑device only” when available.
- Translation (iOS 18+): the App uses Apple Translation. iOS may download translation models. When available, text is processed on device.
- No non‑Apple services are contacted by default.
Storage, Retention, Deletion
- Storage: local on your device (iOS sandbox). Mneia does not provide cloud sync.
- Retention: until you delete content via the App or uninstall the App.
- Deletion: you can delete recordings, transcripts and files from within the App. You can also revoke location permission in iOS Settings.
Sharing and Transfers
- No data sale. No behavioural advertising. No cross‑app tracking.
- No automatic sharing to third parties. Logs/crashes leave the device only if you manually share them (e.g. by e‑mail).
- Any calls into Apple frameworks (speech/translation) are governed by Apple’s terms.
Security
- Data is isolated by the iOS sandbox. Access to microphone/location is controlled by iOS. Avoid sharing logs that contain sensitive information.
Your Rights (EU/EEA)
Because there is no Mneia account or Mneia cloud, your data resides on your device. You may exercise rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection as applicable. For privacy questions: support@mneia.io. If you contact support, share only what’s necessary.
Minors
The App is not directed to children. Do not use the App if your local law sets a minimum age you have not reached.
Third‑party Recordings
You are responsible for compliance with local laws (consent of participants, privacy/confidentiality of communications, etc.).
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date appears above. If we make material changes, we will note them in the App.
